11 HOUR CUT-OFF
The Otter African Trail Run is Africa’s premium marathon distance trail running event. Dubbed the Grail of Trail, the event traverses South Africa’s world-renowned five-day Otter hiking trail which is otherwise off-limits to trail running. The undulating coastal trail provides an unparalleled test of technical trail running drawing a competitive field from across the globe.
The Event is staged in two departures with two different cut-off times; the Otter Challenge with an 11-hour cut-off, and the Otter Race with a more demanding 9-hour cut-off. The Race and The Challenge are each staged over two days, with a 4km prologue on the first day and 42km race on the second day. The course alternates direction each year, between the Classic and Retto Edition.
The Otter African Trail Run is far more than a trail run, and is acclaimed as a celebration of wilderness conservation becoming a benchmark for sustainable eventing.
